VISTA Firmware 10.1

Firmware 10.1 builds on VISTA’s original shipping firmware, Firmware 10.0, with a range of new features, performance improvements, and system optimizations.

This update expands VISTA’s recording capabilities with higher frame rates and additional recording formats, improves CFexpress media compatibility and recording reliability, enhances HDMI monitoring and touchscreen operation, and adds support for UAC microphones and lens metadata. It also introduces improved media management, anamorphic metadata support, more reliable camera operation, and a number of refinements to the user interface and overall system performance.

Firmware 10.1 is designed to further improve VISTA’s reliability, flexibility, and usability in professional shooting environments.

RECORDING

1. Added an on-screen recording button, allowing users to start and stop recording directly from the touchscreen. Two sizes are available, with the larger size selected by default. The button can be repositioned on screen.

2. Fixed an issue where the Stop Recording button could occasionally become unresponsive.

3. Fixed an issue where repeatedly pressing the Record button during the recording preparation stage could create extremely short clips.

4. Improved the recording preparation process, reducing the time required to enter the ready-to-record state.

5. Added 4K 92fps in S35 and 4K Wide 120fps, along with higher frame-rate options for S35, M4/3 and S16 formats, in line with the specifications listed on the official website.

6. Increased the maximum frame rate for 6K Open Gate / Oversampled 4K Open Gate from 36fps to 39fps.

7. Improved the usability of the 5fps minimum frame rate.

8. Added Full-Frame Oversampled 4K 50p ProRes 422 HQ.

9. Fixed aspect-ratio issues in oversampling modes.

STORAGE & MEDIA

CFexpress

- Added support for 4TB and 8TB CFexpress cards using GUID/GPT partitioning.

- Significantly improved CFexpress recording reliability.

- Optimized CFexpress card detection.

Media Management

- Redesigned the media storage layout, making MOV files, metadata, audio and other files easier to access.

- Added checks and recovery support for footage damaged by unexpected power loss.

- Improved media protection during shutdown. If the camera is processing recorded media, users can wait for the process to complete or cancel it before shutting down, preventing unexpected interruption while avoiding unnecessarily long shutdown times.

MONITORING

HDMI

- Added framing mode to HDMI output.

- Added left and right status bars to HDMI output for displaying more camera information.

- Added HDMI frame-rate selection and different output modes for smoother monitoring.

Screen & UI

- Added a foldable screen open/close calibration function to improve detection accuracy and reduce interference from external magnets. Users can calibrate the camera themselves, while each camera also requires one calibration during factory setup.

- Added swipe-up access to the status window in the shooting interface.

- Improved UI rendering with double buffering, reducing visual tearing and stepped refresh effects in menus and pop-ups.

- Improved touchscreen responsiveness in the Quick Menu.

- Improved wheel response speed.

- Improved startup battery detection and battery percentage display speed.

Playback

- Improved playback 9-grid scrolling smoothness, eliminating occasional scrolling freezes.

AUDIO & TIMECODE

Audio

- Added support for UAC microphones, including wireless microphones such as DJI Mic Mini.

- When Audio Input is set to Auto, the input priority is: UAC Mic → 3.5mm → Internal Mic.

- Improved status indications when the 3.5mm port is used for external timecode or microphone input.

Timecode

- When the 3.5mm port is used for external timecode, the camera clearly indicates whether the port is occupied by timecode and whether the external timecode has successfully locked.

- When a microphone is connected to a 3.5mm port that is already being used for timecode, the camera provides a warning to prevent users from mistakenly assuming that the external microphone is being used when the camera is actually recording from the internal microphone.

LENS & METADATA

Lens Control

- Optimized E-mount definition windows and electronic lens detection for more consistent Focus and Iris control.

- Optimized EF-mount electronic lens control with 1/8-stop adjustment, as well as focus and focal-length display.

Lens Metadata

- Lens model and focal length are now recorded in clip metadata and MOV files, allowing users to identify the lens used during shooting directly in post-production.

Anamorphic

- Anamorphic de-squeeze information is now written to standard MOV metadata.

- QuickTime, DaVinci Resolve and other compatible software can automatically read the information and display the footage with the correct wide aspect ratio, eliminating the need to manually adjust the pixel aspect ratio.

- Supports both horizontal and vertical anamorphic formats.

Camera Control & System

Camera Settings

- Improved custom settings for Shutter, WB and Frame Rate.

- Restored the custom WB setting window.

- Added full keyboard input for Project Slate information.

- Corrected Highlight Level labeling in EI mode.

System & Stability

- Fixed an issue where the low-battery warning could remain on screen after replacing the battery or restoring sufficient battery power.

- Fixed an issue where the internal speaker volume could become unusually low in certain situations.

- Improved the firmware update process.

- Improved overall system stability.
