DarkTower Wireless Video Pack

Description

DarkTower Wireless Video Pack based on DarkTower Wireless Platform, consists of one DarkTower wireless transmission card (TX card), one universal wireless receiver (RX) and one free universal Tx Adapter. It can be used as a universal or traditional wireless video system independently by itself, and also on any camera extension modules based on the DarkTower platform, such as KineBACK-W for MAVO LF/MAVO 6K and TERRA 4K, thus the DarkTower features as highly integrated wireless video system.

DarkTower wireless platform integrates wireless video and lens control system developed by Movcam and Kinefinity. It turns the cine camera into a true wireless camera and makes the whole system more concise, stable and reliable. Movcam also provides DarkTower-based extension modules for cine cameras such as Venice, Alexa-MINI and RED DSMC2. All of these extension modules works with the same Tx Card and Rx.

Universal and Integrated Wireless Video Solution

DarkTower Tx Card integrates 5.8G wireless video transmission and 2.4G lens control/wireless focus transceiver in very compact way. The bottom of the card is a high-reliable interface similar to SATA, 2.4G module RF part has the hidden antenna while 5.8G wireless video adopts double high-gain antennas.

There are two types of Tx Cards for different transmission distances, one with a 2000ft (600m) range and the other with a 3000ft (1000m) range, DT2000 and DT3000 respectively. Zero delay (<1ms) on transmission of 1080p60fps is available.

DarkTower wireless transmission part adopts the “card” design concept into Tx Card, so that a highly universal and integrated video transmission solution comes true.

• Integration: When Tx Card is inserted into extension modules like KineBack-W with DarkTower platform, the KineBack-W offers power source, SDI signal, communication control to Tx Card and even supports it mechanically, so that the wireless video transmission system and the camera system are integrated perfectly, and MAVO/TERRA becomes wireless camera. It greatly simplifies system and improves reliability and durability a lot.
• Universality: When Tx Card is pulled out from extension modules like KineBack-W and is inserted into universal Tx Adapter, it becomes a universal/general wireless video system like other wireless video system in the market that works by external mounting parts and SDI signal.

  Universal Receiver (RX)

  No matter DT2000 (2000 feet) or DT3000 (3000 feet) Tx Card, it works with same universal receiver (RX). With superior sensitivity, the RX accommodates video system up to 3000 feet. Therefore, when you attempt to update the Tx Card from 2000 feet to 3000 feet, you just need to update Tx side only, which saves your investment a lot.

  The Rx has double V-mounts (one for battery side, the other for plate side), which particularly is suitable for directly mounting on field monitor with V-mount plate. One V-mount battery supplies power to Rx and monitor at the same time, then just one single SDI cable to connect from SDI output end of Rx and SDI input of field monitor.

  Universal Adapter

  Universal adapter turns the Tx Card into one general wireless video transmitter, together with Rx: a universal and traditional wireless video system is formed, so that it works like other wireless video system in the market that works by external mounting parts and SDI signal.

  Certainly, it works as an ordinary system, so it can not embody the high integration between DarkTower and camera.

Metadata Support

DarkTower platform does not only realize zero delay video transmission, but supports metadata. Particularly for cameras like Alexa-MINI, RED, SDI video signal output from DarkTower Rx’s SDI output contains record trigger signal, time code and file name, also the lens information on camera side.

Seamless & Wireless Lens Control/Follow Focus

Movcam’s wireless focusing system features with high speed, precision, high torque and reliability. With ingenious electronic control, real-time wireless transmission and accurate motor drive, the control system let you feel like the way of controlling focus directly, not though the air.

Since DarkTower Tx Card integrates 2.4G lens control/wireless follow-focus receiver, the 5.8G wireless video system works with Movcam’s latest lens control system seamlessly: Power and control signal are output from KineBACK-W’s EXT port (or MBus port of Tx Adapter) to motor directly, so the traditional 2.4G receiver, additional power cords and supporting parts are eliminated; system gets simplified.

Movcam’s latest wireless focus system adopts daisy chain motor, so one motor can be cascaded  to dual and triple channels. In addition, Movcam’s wireless focus controller can control camera  directly as well.

With such integration Tx card into camera and lightweight Rx, the whole shooting system becomes more portable, convenient and easy-to-user.
